Week Three

We had a short, but busy week in Room 104. We continue to settle into our routines and work better together as a team. Students are starting to collect PAW PASSES for positive behavior at a rapid rate. Prizes are on the way!

We spent our mornings reading more, scooping up longer phrases and snap words, and keeping tabs on our comprehension. We read "Katie Woo Has the Flu" and "Mercy Watson to the Rescue," too. We stretched out small moments in our writing, zooming in on the details to make them more interesting. We also looked at our grammar.  We noted what a sentence needs and the difference between statements and question sentences.

Our afternoons focused on making a ten to add within 100, and subtracting single-digit numbers from multiples of ten and within 20. These were a bit tricky, as we took a ten away to make an easier problem, them adding the answer to the remaining amount. It's a new way to solve these problems and we are getting much better at it! In Social Studies, we continued our neighborhood theme by learning about where we in the world. We finished our project that shows our house, city, state, country, continent, and planet. They look cool!

We also got a chance to have Spanish, Music, P.E., and Library. There was a fire drill on Thursday and we did a fantastic job lining up safely and being quiet and careful as we exited the school. I believe we will have a tornado drill next week, so I'm optimistic we will do well then.

Overall, it was great week. Enjoy your weekend! Don't forget that we have MAP Testing on Monday and Wednesday, too!
