Field Trip to Whole Foods Market

Today we went on a field trip to the Whole Foods Market on 3rd and Fairfax.  This wasn't our first field trip, but it was the first trip where we took cars. We were lucky to have ELEVEN parent drivers, which is amazing!  Anyway, we got to Whole Foods on time and met Shabazz, our tour guide.  He brought us to the fruit and vegetable area, where we learned about organics.  We went to the bulk bin section, where we learned about superfoods and tasted some dried goji berries. We went to the seafood section and heard about how overfishing is affecting us.  Then we went to the meat counter and dairy case, where we tasted some cheddar cheese.  After a few twists and turns we ended up in the soda and cereal aisle, where we learned how to avoid high fructose corn syrup. We ended up getting a special treat at the end of the tour, too. Students got a snack of orange juice, cheese pizza, and a cupcake. It was nice to sit and enjoy them after our surprisingly chilly tour. After that, we drove back to Third Street. I hope that students (and all of our wonderfully supportive parents) had a great day!
