Field Trip to the Oak Park River Forest Museum

Room 104 took a field trip on Friday to the Oak Park River Forest Museum. We left school and walked over to Lake Street where we were met by the curators and volunteers in the museum. We learned that the building was once a fire station and has been restored. Once inside, we got into four groups and rotated through different sections of the museum.

At one station, we looked at different kinds of historical maps  and touched a 5,000 year old artifact.

At another, we looked more closely at a map of Oak Park and found Beye School and may other landmarks in our neighborhood.

Upstairs, we talked about our community and named different places we see and visit in town.

We also got to see, touch, and use some older equipment and machines in the museum.

Overall, we had a nice trip to the museum. Please consider visiting again!

We'd like to thank our parent chaperones that helped us on the trip: Grace's mom, Ben P's dad, Ian's mom, and Ben S's mom. Thank you so much for your help!  You were awesome!
