Week Thirty
We had a good week in Room 104. We learned more about economics, worked in Reading Book Clubs, made poetry books in writing, and counted money in math. Let's find out more about our week!
Our ELA Block included new spelling lists. We hope to begin keyboarding after our CogAT testing. In RUOS, we finished our "Bigger Books Means Amping Up Our Reading Power" unit. We spent more time in partner book clubs reading and discussing chapter books together. We worked on fluency, keeping track of what happened, and literary language. We also read "Those Shoes" books to hone these skills. In WUOS, we wrote edited and published our best poetry. We hope to make a class book of our favorites and display our books next week. In language, we worked on adjectives and adverbs.
In our afternoon block, Social Studies still focused on economics. We read in our textbook about goods and services and how and why people save money. We will finish the chapter next week and have our Market Day on Thursday morning. Be sure to finish up those items for sale! In math, we continued module 7 on Problem Solving with Length, Money, and Data. We focused on identifying and counting coins. We also found ways to solve word problems using money. We will do more of the same next week.
We also had our specials. We started new projects in Art with Ms. Sundquist. We focused on instrument sounds and our Spring Sing songs in Music with Ms. Altshuler. We discussed the story "El Robo" in Spanish with Sra. Colmenero. We read a story and checked out books with Mr. Withers in the library. We had cool games and activities in P.E. with Mr. Simatic. We also had Book Buddies on Friday with Mr. Manus' class.
Have a great weekend!
