Penguins and a Guest Reader
We had a good Wednesday in Room 203. We started our day with our morning activities, including updating the calendar and adding 10 sticks to our 100 Day Book. Emma's mom stopped by to share her favorite book for "Star of the Week." She read "Ada Twist Scientist." The class liked it very much! Remember that if you'd like to be a guest reader, just let me know and we will find a day and time for you! We had Reader's Workshop next, followed by a penguin project. We've been learning about penguins, so we created one using construction paper, crayons, and glue. They look cute! After Road to Reading, we had snack, recess, and Spanish to finish the morning.
After lunch, we reviewed our sight words, ""Jack Be Nimble," and read "Penguin Chick" together. Then we had math. We worked on counting and comparing numbers that are the same, more, and less. After some Workshop time, we had Star of the Week. We reviewed what we know and like about Emma. We ended the day with Second Step. We learned about managing anger. We played a game, listened to "The Anger Song," and talked about how to calm down when we feel tense and angry. Then we packed up and headed for home. Look for the February BeyeLines, Lunch Schedule, and a note about the Book Fair today!
