Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

We had a fast day in Room 203. We started our morning with HWT, updated our calendar, read a story about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and had our ELA small group rotations. My groups finished up writing and cutting out our New Year's Resolutions. Workshop groups used the iPads to play LexiaCore5 games, and independent groups identified some of Dr. King's accomplishments. We also reviewed the alphabet, sounds, sight words, phonics skills, and read "The Kissing Hand." After indoor snack and recess, we had Writer's Workshop. We learned the importance of using vowels when writing words. Then we started a new story, which we should finish tomorrow.

After lunch, we had math. We learned more about weighing objects to finish what is heavier and what is lighter. Then we used our scales to weigh objects and identify which was heavier or lighter with a partner. We had some free workshop time before ending the day reciting "Little Nut Tree,"  reading "Winter," and practicing our songs for the Pot Luck Celebration next week. After Art with Ms. Sundquist, we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check over homework packets to make sure that they are neat and complete!
