The Letter P
We had a nice Monday back in Room 2. We began the day with a windy and chilly Nutrition time outside. Then we took care of our morning activities, including the calendar, alphabet, and Pledge of Allegiance. Next, we read "My 'P' Book" and came up with some "p" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on correctly formed "p"s and using crayons, glue, and popcorn to make the tactile page "Popcorn on 'P's on a Pumpkin." My groups worked on writing a holiday card. The other groups started our new secret centers. They include: Using construction paper to make a picture at the Art Center, playing games at PlanetBravo.com/thirdstreet/ at the Computer Center, doing "Dicey Math" at the Math Center, using blocks, cubes, Legos, and farm animals at the Play Center, and writing sentences in "My Holiday Word Book" at the Writing Center. After recess, we had math. We worked on our addition fluency with some problems, as well as reviewing important vocabulary and concepts in chapter 5. We will test later in the week.
After lunch, we learned our new sight words for the week, as well as introduced our new poem, "Little Bo-Peep." Then we had art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. They helped us finished a cool flower project today. The class also got plenty of free draw with markers. Next, we practiced our holiday songs. We're getting better! We should be ready for Thursday. At P.E., we used frisbees and bouncy balls on the big yard. It was a bit windy for the frisbees, but we tried our best. When we got back to Room 2, we practiced some sounding out skills, reviewed our theme, and wrote a sentence about our favorite food. Then we packed up, passed out homework, and lined up for home.
