Layers of the Earth
We had a day getting things back to normal in Room 2. Our Wednesday began with Nutrition inside (It was cold!) and our morning activities. Then we read "The Pig's Picnic" and came up with more "P" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "P" phonics and sentences. My groups worked on holiday cards. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We practiced adding and finding sums up to six.
After lunch, we reviewed sounds, sight words, and recited "Little Bo-Peep." Then we had science. We finished our unit on the Earth by reviewing the layers of the Earth. Then we used clay to make a model of the Earth illustrating the crust, mantle, and core. Hopefully, they made it home for you to see! Then we read "The Seven Days of Kwanzaa" and discussed another winter holiday. Then we started coloring a kinara. We will finish it tomorrow. At P.E., Coach Angel showed us how to play hockey with a real hockey stick. We used what we learned earlier to takes some shots on goal. It looked fun! We ended the day by celebrating Zachary's birthday. His dad brought pizza, applesauce, juice, and cupcakes for the class to enjoy. Happy Birthday Zachary! Then we put up our chairs, packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
Don't forget that our holiday party is tomorrow!
