Field Trip to the Chicago Botanic Gardens

Room 104 went on a field trip to the Chicago Botanic Gardens on Tuesday. It was an overcast and rainy day, but we had a nice trip.

When we arrived, we were met and told about our day. We found out how perfectly what we were going to see and study tied in perfectly with our "Insects and Plants" unit in Science.

We had to split into two groups, so half our students went with Mrs. Mabry's class, the rest joined Mrs. Louthan's class. We learned about how plants grow and thrive. We also found out how bees, butterflies, and other insects see and choose flowers to pollinate.

After lunch, it began to rain, but we decided to brave the elements to explore the gardens.

Fortunately, the weather eased up. We had some drizzle, but were mostly spared as we visited the grounds. There were cool plants outside and inside in the greenhouses.

There was a lot of land (and water) to see. There were exhibits on insects and beehives.

By the time the rain started coming down, we were on the bus. It was great timing. I think that everyone had a great day. We'd like to thank our awesome chaperones for their help: Bea's mom, Elora's dad, Parker's mom, Olivia's mom, Charlotte's dad, Rocco's dad, and Penny's dad. Thanks you so much!
