Week Twenty-Two

We had an interesting week in Room 104.  Our Monday was delayed by weather, we had a field trip on Tuesday, school was cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday for freezing temperatures, and we had a half day on Friday. Oh, and we also held Parent/Teacher Conferences. What a week!

Our ELA Block was very limited. We did get new spelling words and take the test on Friday, however. In RUOS, we did read a biography of Mae Jemison and ordered the events of the story and looked at cause and effect. In WUOS, we started doing research for our dinosaur reports and making notecards. We will use those notes to help our writing and we make our dinosaur reports next week.

In our afternoon block, we spent the week reviewing the three types of rocks (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks), where they come from, and looking at the rock cycle. In math, we continued module 4 on Addition and Subtraction Within 200. We reviewed strategies to subtract. We continue using the vertical form and borrowing correctly. Keep practicing that skill! We will work more with vertical addition and subtraction next week.

Unfortunately, we missed all of our specials this week The weather  delay, our field trip, the cancelled days, and our half day affected them all. We did get to go to the Book Fair on Friday, however. We also got to go on an awesome field trip to the Field Museum on Tuesday. (For more, see our previous post!)

Next week, we hope to get back to normal. Thanks for all of your help and patience this week. And I appreciate all of your kind words at P/T conferences. Have a great weekend!
