Week Twenty-Four
We had a fun week in Room 104! We had our Dinosaur Museum and celebrated Valentine's Day.
Our ELA Block included new spelling lists. We did a nice job on our tests this week! In RUOS, we finished reading more non-fiction texts and giving our summative assessment on "Snowflake Bentley." In WUOS, we finished writing dinosaur reports and worked on memorizing our dinosaur speech. On Thursday, we held our Dinosaur Museum. Students shared their dinosaur projects - we had dinosaur rooms, dioramas, board games, activity packets, and exhibits. We shared our writing and memorized a speech of dinosaur facts to visiting parents, teachers, and students. It was a great turnout and a lot of fun!
In our afternoon block, we spent our science time this week finishing "Pebbles, Sand, and Silt. We learned about soil and water. We learned how water changes the Earth, too. Then we reviewed what we learned all unit and took the unit test on Thursday. Next week, we switch to Social Studies and government. In math, we finished module 4 on Addition and Subtraction Within 200. We solved one and two-step word problems using different addition and subtraction strategies. We also celebrated Valentine's Day by making a puzzle, a picture frame, and exchanging cards on Thursday.
We also had our specials. We got back to Art with Ms. Sundquist and worked more on our dinosaur pictures. We had a lot of fun singing, using rhythm, and watching musicians in Music with Ms. Altshuler. We had impromptu question and answer discussions in Spanish with Sra. Colmenero. We read a story and checked out books with the substitute Mrs. Pollack in the library. Of course we played some fun games and had an awesome time in P.E. with Mr. Simatic. We also finished and sealed our mosaics in Art Start with Mrs. McNulty.
We have a nice long weekend with both Friday and Monday off for President's Day. Have a great four-day weekend!
