Week Seven

We had a good week in Room 104!  We had three science experiments and finished our math module on measurement. Plus, we are nearing the end of both our reading and writing units.

Our ELA Block included our fourth week of spelling and our second week of handwriting. We continue to get better at both! We learned about commas and talked about a noun being a person, place or thing in language. In RUOS, we read a lot of Mo Willems books as we thought about the lessons or ideas that authors want reader to learn in their stories.  In WUOS, we shared some writing, learned some new craft moves, and helped each other reread and edit their stories.

In our afternoon block, we had three experiments in Science. We looked at what solid objects are made of, we compared objects and identified their properties, and we tried to build towers that would stand 45 com tall and withstand wind blowing it to stand in place. It was fun! We also drew, colored, and painted our own tower, bridge or other structure. In math, we practiced more measurement, used string and rulers to measure curved lines, and tried some two step word problems related to measurement. We also took our module two assessment on Thursday. We will move onto place value next week.

We also had some great specials. We worked more on our "American Gothic" inspired masterpieces in Art with Ms. Sundquist,. We learned some new songs in Music with Ms. Altshuler. We learned more about Mexico and people in Spanish with Sra. Colmenero. We read a story and checked out books in Library with Mr. Withers. And we played some fun games (including ones with scooters) in P.E. with Mr. Simatic.

We don't have school on Monday in observation of Indigenous Peoples' Day. Have a wonderful three-day weekend. See you back in Room 104 on Tuesday!
