Field Trip to Oak Park River Forest Museum
We had a great field trip to the Oak Park River Forest Museum on Tuesday. We walked over from Beye and were greeted outside. We learned that the building the museum is in used to be a firehouse and is 120 years old. We were introduced to the inside and talked about urban, suburban, and rural neighborhoods. We learned a little more about the history of Oak Park and River Forest in small groups, talked about things we have and would want in our neighborhood, looked at maps and artifacts, found our homes on a map, and got to see and play with toys and school materials from a long time ago. It was fun and well-connected to our Social Studies unit on Neighborhood. The class had a fantastic time! We'd like to thank our two chaperones, Elora's dad and Charlotte's dad, for coming along with us. We hope that you had a good time too!
