The Chocolate Chip Ghost
We had a great Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with nutrition and our morning activities. Then, instead of a reading a book, I told the story of "The Chocolate Chip Ghost" using a felt board. At language arts rotations, students made ghost puppets based on the characters from "The Chocolate Chip Ghost" and how they changed. My groups wrote about pumpkins in their kindergarten journals. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on taking apart the numbers 4 and 5. It was pretty easy!
After lunch, we recited "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling." We also had an activity related to "The Chocolate Chip ghost." Students sequenced the events of the story. We also practiced our Halloween song and learned more about the Earth. We only had time to read a book and discuss the layers of the Earth because we ran out of time. We will continue the lesson soon. For Star of the Week, Bishop shared one of his favorite books, "Corduroy." Mrs. Singh had a meeting today, so we went to the library early to hear our two stories. Then we went to Coach Angel for P.E. to end the day. He had the class play "Cone Toss." It was a game where students tried to toss a tennis ball into a large cone. It was a tricky! When we got back to Room 2, we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
