Halloween Art

We had a windy Thursday in Room 2. We began the day trying to hold onto our snacks at Nutrition before they blew away. Then we took care of our morning activities and read "Pumpkin Time" and "J is for Jaguar." At language arts rotations, students worked on "J" phonics and sentences. My groups wrote a friendly letter to Bishop, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on making (or composing) 6 and 7 using counters. We tried to find all the different ways to make each number.

After a breezy lunch, we recited "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling," did some rhyming, and had art. We used oil pastels and black paper to make spooky Halloween pictures. They look great!  For Star of the Week, Bishop shared some nice family photos. For P.E., we played with balls and jump ropes on the big yard. When we got back, we read "The Widow's Broom" by Chris Van Allsburg and made some stand-up witches (with a broom). Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow. Also, our Halloween party is tomorrow at 1:00P.M. Parents are welcome to attend!
