Self Portraits

Wednesday was our second day of kindergarten!  We began the day with Nutrition outside. We will continue this as long as the weather permits. When we came inside, we looked at the calendar, practiced our ABCs, and recited the pledge of allegiance. Then we read "Tiptoe into Kindergarten" and wrote down some of the things we hope to do in kindergarten. I wrote the words, but students copied them and made a picture to accompany the writing. Next, Miss Esther read us a story since she helps us all day on Wednesdays. After that, we looked at books with a friend.  We also had some circle time and learned everyone's name, age, and favorite animal. After recess, we had math. We reviewed the colors before talking about shapes. Then we matched shapes that are the same.

After lunch, we recited the song "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and read the book "Kindergarten Rules." We also reviewed our class rules. Our afternoon project was to finish our self portraits. We decorated a t-shirt design to go with the faces we drew yesterday. After P.E. and snack, we cut out the face and shirt and glued them together. They look great!  Then we packed up, sang "Wake Up Toes," and lined up for home.
