More with Rainbow Fish

We had a short day today in Room 2. We began our minimum Monday with morning business and by reading "The Rainbow Fish to the Rescue." At language arts rotations, students made a cool art project with the help of Finn's mom and Lily's mom. We scraped different colored crayons onto wax paper. Then we covered it with another piece of wax paper and our parent volunteers melted it with an iron. The colors blended nicely. Then we stapled it to an outline that made it appear to be a fish. They look neat! My groups worked on a special Father's Day project. The other groups had choose time. After snack and recess, we talked about money. We reviewed the four main coins before we focused on the nickel and dime. We identified who was on the front and what was on the back of each coin, counted in multiples of their value, and identified each in a group. It is very good practice for next year!

After lunch, we came in, read "The Rainbow Fish and the Sea Monster's Cave," and had a popcorn party. We earned it last week, but didn't have time on Friday because of the culmination. We watched a little "Toy Story" and munched on some popcorn. Then we packed up our things and lined up for home!

Don't forget to review important events this week. Be sure to bring a large bag to take home items on Tuesday, prepare for our picnic Wednesday, and note that our last day is Thursday. Let's have a great week!
