We were lucky enough to have Bowie's mom, Vanessa, teach a lesson in school on Monday. She's a veterinarian, and she was kind enough to explain her job to our class. She brought in some models of animal bones and teeth, and showed some x-rays of animals that needed surgery. Then, she had students try on surgical gloves, mask, and cap to perform a "surgery" to find a toy buried in a bag of beans. We used real tools to search and tried to be as careful as possible. Vanessa even showed the class how to sew the bag of beans back up. It was a lot of fun!
