Week Thirty-Nine - The Last Week of Second Grade!

This was the last week of second grade in Room 104. We spent the week finishing up projects, having our class picnic, packing and cleaning up the room, and saying our goodbyes.

We tried keeping our routine for most of the week. We spent our ELA Block doing morning work and reading each day. During writing, we started working a a class memory book. If your child missed a part, be sure to finish it at home. We filled out favorite things from the year and signed autographs for our classmates.

Our afternoon block included some Typing Training, studying arctic habitats in science, plus trying a math review workbook to go over topics from throughout the year. A green summer workbook went home Thursday should your child want some extra practice or something to do going into third grade.

Tuesday was meant to be our Second Grade Picnic at Andersen Park, but we had to go to Plan B. The rain forced us to stay inside at Beye, so our resourceful parents helped us by setting up stations in the Hephzibah and Music rooms. Students rotated through a craft area, movement room, and snack station in the morning. After lunch, we had popsicles, played some typing games, and had a super long recess outside when the weather cleared in the afternoon. We definitely made the best of it! Thanks again to all of the parents that volunteered their time and materials. We appreciate it!

Our last two days were filled with packing up, cleaning, and then celebrating our accomplishments. Everyone got a book and some prizes to take home for the summer. Enjoy them!  Our last day finished with the traditional all-school assembly and teacher dance on the playground. When we got back to the room, we said our good-byes as we handed out report cards.

I hope that everyone had a fun and productive year. It was a pleasure teaching this group in second grade. Be sure to keep in touch!  Have a great summer!
