Fire Safety Assembly

We had a nice, easy Monday morning in room 36. After the pledge and attendance, we started the day by going to a fire safety assembly in the auditorium. Students learned about what to do in case of a fire. Our presenter reminded everyone to have a safety plan by knowing of at least two exits from every room, not opening doors that are hot, having a family meeting place, and remembering to call 911 in case of an emergency. He took some volunteers to act out some scenarios, including how to "Stop, Drop, and Roll" in case you ever get caught on fire.  It was a short and informative assembly, and the students were quite engaged. We didn't have much time until P.E., so after the assembly we read our first story of the week and reviewed spelling words. The rest of the day was back to business, as we worked on expository writing, started a new chapter in math, and had the small group work that we normally take care of in the morning. It was a different, but fun day
