We're working through a unit on shapes in Art. This week we bridged two lessons: one on outlining shapes, the other on still life. The class looked at actual plates of bananas, apples, oranges, pears, and grapes, and tried to replicate the fruit shapes using oil pastels. Then they traced around those shapes using black to make them "pop." The finished products are very good and will be on display in the classroom. Next week, we will create "truer" still life pictures by incorporating spacial relationships and overlapping to their art.
