Butterflies, Take 2
While we were at the KIdSpace Museum, I bought more caterpillars from the gift shop. I was worried about our batch since they took longer than the expected 7 to 10 days to emerge from their cocoons. Anyway, long story short, we have five more future butterflies in our classroom. They entered the chrysalis stage, and we expect them to emerge around the middle of next week. We hope that they turn out as well as the last group!
Four of the five butterflies emerged from their cocoons today. We hope to see number five tomorrow. We're giving them oranges and sugar water in the pavilion and will observe them for a day or two. Then we plan on releasing them into the 3rd Street garden, like we did with our last batch of painted ladies.
