Chrysalis
Our caterpillars have made their way to the pupa stage! We saw all 5 hanging from the top of the jar this morning in their homemade cocoons. At recess, Mr. Ricker nervously transferred them into the butterfly pavilion to prepare for that final exciting stage. We're really looking forward to seeing them turn into butterflies!
How cool. What type of butterflies are they?
ReplyDeleteThey are painted lady butterflies. They will be orange and black and resemble a monarch butterfly when they emerge!
ReplyDeleteIt appears that our experiment is working! Two butterflies were out when we came back from our field trip to KidSpace. We put out some oranges and sugar water and are waiting for the last three to join them in our butterfly pavilion. Hooray!
