The Butterflies Emerge!
We got some great news today as all 5 of our butterflies emerged from their chrysalis! It took about three weeks to complete the entire life cycle, but it was well worth it. We didn't get much time to enjoy them with music and an assembly on Friday, so we will keep them over the weekend and release them into the school garden on Monday afternoon.
We successfully released the butterflies into the school garden after library on Monday. The students were very excited to see them make their way out of the pavilion and fly off amongst the greenery. There were many "oohs" and "aahs" as they escaped. Some students from other classes even came over to peek at the process. I was very pleased at how well the whole process went. We'll try it again with our new batch of butterflies next week!
